2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daron |
4 | | Richard "D.T." Tunks of Peoria and Conley, Georgia, who passed |
5 | | away on January 11, 2022; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was born to Richard Martin and |
7 | | Barbara Ann (Carlson) Tunks in Peoria on July 21, 1967; he was |
8 | | raised in Peoria, where he received his education from |
9 | | District 150 schools; he attended Calvin Coolidge Grammar |
10 | | School and several high schools before earning his G.E.D.; he |
11 | | attended Bradley University, where he became a member of the |
12 | | Epsilon Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and |
13 | | served as Anchor #6 of S.S. Determination in Spring 1987; he |
14 | | received his bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College; he |
15 | | married Shann Lindsey in Peoria on June 1, 1995; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was the sole owner and operator of |
17 | | Tunks & Sons Delivery; he began his business as a furniture |
18 | | delivery company in 2003 before evolving it into an intrastate |
19 | | moving company in 2007; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist |
21 | | Church on January 23, 2000; he was a member of St. Paul Baptist |
22 | | Church, where he belonged to the Drama Ministry; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks loved singing, gambling, and playing |
2 | | pool; he was an avid chess player; he was a devoted and loving |
3 | | husband and a protective father; he will be remembered as the |
4 | | protector of his family and a comedian to his friends; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was preceded in death by his parents |
6 | | and grandparents; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Daron Tunks is survived by his wife and partner |
8 | | of 35 years, La Shann Monise Tunks; his children, Tyshell |
9 | | Tanae', Kevin Benard, Jade Marie, Deja Monise, Daron Richard |
10 | | II, and Jaron Calvin; his grandchildren, Maliyah Marie-Vonsae, |
11 | | Shyla Redina-Chante', Jhase Anthony Richard, Dominik |
12 | | Braxton-Lee, Melodi La'Rae, Lyric Ka'Mari Ann, Jewel Denise, |
13 | | JeQuez De'Audrey II, Daron Richard III, Nyla Joi Monise, and |
14 | | Jaron Calvin II; his sisters, Dawn Elizabeth (John), Rose |
15 | | Marie (Gregory), and Linda Kathleen (Michael); and a host of |
16 | | nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, surrogate sons, fraternity |
17 | | brothers, and friends; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
19 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
20 | | we mourn the passing of Daron Richard "D.T." Tunks and extend |
21 | | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who |
