|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant |
4 | | Marlene R. Rittmanic of the Bradley Police Department, who was |
5 | | killed in the line of duty on December 30, 2021; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was born on October 6, 1972; she |
7 | | was the daughter of James and Mary Jane (Thompson) Rittmanic; |
8 | | she married Lyn Stua on June 11, 2011; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was a 21-year law enforcement |
10 | | veteran; she began her career as a deputy with the Iroquois |
11 | | County Sheriff's Department in 2000; she joined the Bradley |
12 | | Police Department on February 13, 2007, where she was promoted |
13 | | to sergeant on September 2, 2014; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was widely recognized as a leader |
15 | | in community policing; she was known for her ability to speak |
16 | | to members of the community with respect while meeting them |
17 | | where they were in life, understanding their true needs, and |
18 | | working together with them to find a solution; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was awarded the Law Enforcement |
20 | | Officer of the Year in 2020 in recognition of her commitment to |
21 | | the Bradley and Kankakee County communities; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was also a published poet, an |
2 | | amateur photographer, and a film producer for family, the |
3 | | Bradley Police Department, and community events; alongside her |
4 | | wife, she was an avid dog rescuer; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was a valiant Illinoisan and a |
6 | | proud member of the Bradley and Kankakee County communities |
7 | | who bravely and honorably served its citizens; she will be |
8 | | dearly missed; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic was preceded in death by her |
10 | | mother, Mary Jane Rittmanic; her sister, Diana Jessen; her |
11 | | brothers, Richard Rittmanic and Mark Rittmanic; and her |
12 | | nephews, Richie Absher and Brett Mayhood; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Rittmanic is survived by her wife, Lyn Stua; |
14 | | her father, James Rittmanic; her sisters, Kimberly Organ, |
15 | | Christina (Ty) O'Connor, Kathleen (Rodney) Emme, Colleen |
16 | | Welch, and Jennifer (Jerry) Whitaker; her brother, James |
17 | | (Trish) Rittmanic; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, |
18 | | be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
20 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
21 | | we mourn the passing of Sergeant Marlene R. Rittmanic and |

1 | | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all |
2 | | who knew and loved her; and be it further
|
3 | | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sgt. Rittmanic, who |
4 | | gave her life while protecting the citizens of Bradley; and be |
5 | | it further
|
6 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Sgt. Rittmanic and the Bradley |
8 | | Police Department as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
