2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Alice |
4 | | Marie LeFlore Brown of Peoria, who passed away on December 10, |
5 | | 2021; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Alice Brown was born to Lillie LeFlore and Jimmie |
7 | | Rhodes Sr. in Chicago on October 15, 1971; she graduated from |
8 | | Fenger Academy High School; she received her CNA certificate |
9 | | from Malcom X College in Chicago; she married Rev. Chuck Brown |
10 | | on August 31, 2013, and they proudly combined nine children |
11 | | and five grandchildren to form a loving family; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Alice Brown was deeply devoted to her faith; she |
13 | | was baptized at Union Grove Baptist Church in Chicago at an |
14 | | early age; she was later baptized in the Holy Ghost at Jesus |
15 | | Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Alongside her husband, Alice Brown founded the |
17 | | Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Peoria in March 2013; they changed the |
18 | | church's name to Victory Christian Church in December 2018; |
19 | | she served the church in many areas, including overseeing the |
20 | | ushers, the children's daycare, the women's ministry, and the |
21 | | kitchen ministry; she also served as the financial secretary; |
22 | | she was licensed by her husband to preach at Victory Christian |

1 | | Church on October 24, 2021; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Alice Brown strove to serve the church and the |
3 | | Peoria community by her husband's side; she loved spending |
4 | | time with her husband and family, traveling, watching movies, |
5 | | celebrating holidays, dressing up fashionably fresh, and |
6 | | dining at Tasty Crab in Bloomington; she dearly loved her |
7 | | children and grandchildren and would do anything for them; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Alice Brown was known as "Lady Brown" and |
9 | | affectionately called "hon" by her husband; she was a |
10 | | beautiful yet quiet woman, with a stunning smile, a warm |
11 | | embrace, and a spirit larger than life; she possessed |
12 | | tremendous gifts of love, support, and counsel to all who |
13 | | needed help and assistance; she will be remembered for being a |
14 | | family leader and the epitome of a virtuous woman; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Alice Brown is survived by her husband; her |
16 | | parents; her brothers, Henry Lamont LeFlore and Jimmie Rhodes |
17 | | Jr.; her sisters, Stephanie LeFlore, Patricia LeFlore, Nora |
18 | | LeFlore, Siara Rhodes, and Tauj Rhodes; her sons, Julius |
19 | | LeFlore, Jeremiah LeFlore, Alex LeFlore, and Malcom Kincaid; |
20 | | her daughters, Monique Kincaid, Monisha Kincaid, Alexandra |
21 | | Allen, Tehran Brown, Virginia Brown, and Jennifer Brown; her |
22 | | five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and |
23 | | extended family; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
2 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
3 | | we mourn the passing of Alice Marie LeFlore Brown and extend |
4 | | our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who |
5 | | knew and loved her; and be it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Alice Brown as an expression of our |
8 | | deepest sympathy.
