| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives respect and appreciate the contributions of | ||||||
| 4 | local elected officials across the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, School board members are charged with serving our | ||||||
| 6 | State's diverse communities and providing direction and | ||||||
| 7 | guidance to meet the needs of all learners to prepare them for | ||||||
| 8 | their future; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Phil Pritzker of Wheeling has served on the Board | ||||||
| 10 | of Education for Community Consolidated School District 21 | ||||||
| 11 | since July 1989; he has served as board president from 1991 to | ||||||
| 12 | 1993, 2001 to 2003, and 2017 to present; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) | ||||||
| 14 | annually selects one board member from across the State as the | ||||||
| 15 | recipient of its prestigious Thomas Lay Burroughs Award in | ||||||
| 16 | memory of the late ISBE Chairman Tom Burroughs; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Recipients of the Burroughs Award display | ||||||
| 18 | extraordinary leadership on behalf of education at the local | ||||||
| 19 | level, including group skills, such as consensus building and | ||||||
| 20 | teamwork, and individual traits, such as vision, courage, and | ||||||
| 21 | integrity; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Phil Pritzker has exemplified the noble and | ||||||
| 2 | worthy characteristics of Burroughs Award honorees throughout | ||||||
| 3 | his tenure on the CCSD21 Board of Education, as well as in | ||||||
| 4 | service to the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) as | ||||||
| 5 | its vice president, president, and immediate past president; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Phil Pritzker was named the 2021 Thomas Lay | ||||||
| 8 | Burroughs Award recipient at the Joint Annual Conference of | ||||||
| 9 | the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | Association of School Administrators (IASA), and the Illinois | ||||||
| 11 | Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) on November | ||||||
| 12 | 21, 2021; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we congratulate Phil Pritzker on receiving the 2021 Thomas Lay | ||||||
| 16 | Burroughs Award, and we thank him for his tireless dedication | ||||||
| 17 | and service to the CCSD21 community and the State of Illinois; | ||||||
| 18 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Phil Pritzker as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 21 | esteem.
