2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of George | ||||||
4 | "Bunny" Allen Dixon Jr., who passed away on October 14, 2021; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, George Dixon was born on August 1, 1959 to George | ||||||
7 | Allen Dixon and Catherine Ann Dixon and gained his nickname of | ||||||
8 | Bunny from a song his mother sang to him; as a child, he | ||||||
9 | attended Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of the | ||||||
10 | Bishop John S. Holly; he attended Sbarbaro Elementary School, | ||||||
11 | now Arthur Ashe, and later graduated from Chicago Public High | ||||||
12 | School; he married Cassandra Micenhamer in 1982; building upon | ||||||
13 | his interests in business and machinery, he enrolled in | ||||||
14 | various educational and training programs, including Olive | ||||||
15 | Harvey City College, and earned his Certificate of Maintenance | ||||||
16 | Technology (HVAC) from Environmental Technical Institute; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, George Dixon served for more than 40 years as a | ||||||
18 | machine operator, working for various companies, including | ||||||
19 | Electro Motive, a division of General Motors, Continental | ||||||
20 | White Cap, and Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, from | ||||||
21 | which he retired; in keeping with his father's philosophy of | ||||||
22 | having multiple streams of income, he founded Green Acres, | ||||||
23 | which provided landscaping, snow removal, and property |

1 | management services to residential and commercial clients, | ||||||
2 | including a host of elected officials and local businesses; | ||||||
3 | and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, George Dixon loved being with family and friends | ||||||
5 | for social gatherings, movie nights, and dinner outings, | ||||||
6 | especially during the holidays and on milestone occasions | ||||||
7 | where it wouldn't be a good time for him if he didn't spark a | ||||||
8 | debate or an argument about something; he was a man of routine | ||||||
9 | and enjoyed his daily hot cup of coffee while speaking with | ||||||
10 | whomever was available before 7 a.m.; he had an infectious | ||||||
11 | spirit and sense of humor and a zest for life, which always | ||||||
12 | made him the life of the party and a friend to many; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, George Dixon was preceded in death by his sister, | ||||||
14 | Patricia Ann; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, George Dixon is survived by his wife; his son, | ||||||
16 | Christopher Dixon; his sisters, Lynn Dixon and Shari Dixon; | ||||||
17 | his brothers, Darryl Dixon and Eric (Nikki) Dixon; his nieces | ||||||
18 | and nephews, La Toya Dixon, Jenelle Taylor, Jalen Spight, | ||||||
19 | Jordan Spight, Jaleah Fowler, Darius Costello, Johnetta Burks, | ||||||
20 | and Precious Burks; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, | ||||||
21 | and loving friends; therefore, be it

1 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we mourn the passing of George "Bunny" Allen Dixon Jr. and | ||||||
3 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
4 | who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of George Dixon as an expression of our | ||||||
7 | deepest sympathy.
