2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert |
4 | | "Bob" Deignan, a long-time resident of Glen Ellyn, who passed |
5 | | away on October 16, 2021; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan played many roles in life; he was an |
7 | | Eagle Scout, a local sports enthusiast, a Significant Sig, a |
8 | | teacher, an attorney, and a family man; of all these, he loved |
9 | | the role of father most of all and especially enjoyed problem |
10 | | solving with his children and grandchildren; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan practiced law at Baker and McKenzie |
12 | | in Chicago where his passion for the law and his strong work |
13 | | ethic led to a successful 53-year career; among his most |
14 | | rewarding projects was the pro bono work he did serving |
15 | | underprivileged students at the McCutcheon School in Chicago; |
16 | | his core belief was that large law firms should lead by example |
17 | | on pro bono work, support for legal aid, and access to justice; |
18 | | and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan was instrumental in the creation and |
20 | | development of the Chicago Bar Foundation Law Firm Leadership |
21 | | Circle and served as its inaugural chair; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan received many accolades over the |
2 | | years including the prestigious Chicago Bar |
3 | | Association/Chicago Bar Foundation Edward J. Lewis II Pro Bono |
4 | | Service Award in 2008; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan will be remembered for his devotion |
6 | | to family, his faith, his generosity, his irrepressible |
7 | | enthusiasm for simple pleasures, his love of travel and a |
8 | | certain twinkle in his eye; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Deignan is survived by his loving wife of 59 |
10 | | years, Ann; his children, Amy (Paul) Manganelli, Julie |
11 | | Deignan, Jane (Matt) Sobolewski, and John (Anna) Deignan; and |
12 | | his grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Robert, Leo, Jack, |
13 | | Beatrice, and Danny; therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
15 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
16 | | we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Deignan and extend our |
17 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
18 | | and loved him; and be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Bob Deignan as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
