2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Leroy Edward Brinkman of Payson, who |
4 | | passed away on October 14, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was born to Lawrence Bernard and |
6 | | Marie Rose Goerlich Brinkman in Quincy on December 14, 1929; |
7 | | he went to St. Francis School in Quincy through eighth grade |
8 | | and attended Notre Dame High School for one year; he married |
9 | | Virginia Mae Stahl at Notre Dame Catholic Church in LaGrange, |
10 | | Missouri on September 28, 1949, and they recently celebrated |
11 | | 72 years of marriage; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman worked on the family farm with his |
13 | | father; he also worked at the Packaging Corporation and was |
14 | | employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 29 years until his |
15 | | retirement in 1992; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was a member of St. Boniface |
17 | | Catholic Church; after it closed, he became a member of St. |
18 | | Francis Solanus Church; he was a member of the Payson School |
19 | | Board from 1972 to 1981 and a member of the Knights of |
20 | | Columbus; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman enjoyed coaching the girls Payson |

1 | | Progressors 4-H softball team for many years, including |
2 | | several trips to state tournaments; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman farmed and also maintained a large |
4 | | garden with his wife; they were known for their strawberry |
5 | | patch; he enjoyed being active and regularly attended sporting |
6 | | events, concerts, plays, and school gatherings to watch his |
7 | | children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman was preceded in death by his |
9 | | parents; his son, Randy (Sandy) Brinkman; his three |
10 | | sons-in-law, Terry Graham, Bill Behymer, and Charles Finley; |
11 | | his grandson, Alan Lewton; a great-granddaughter; two |
12 | | great-grandsons; his two brothers, Kenneth and James (Betty) |
13 | | Brinkman; and his brother-in-law, Lenny Venvertloh; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Brinkman is survived by his wife, Virginia; |
15 | | his 14 children and their families, Stanley (Joan) Brinkman |
16 | | and children Jean (Justin) Oenning and Shawn; Steven (Linda) |
17 | | Brinkman and children Chad, Troy (Monica), and Lance |
18 | | (Margaret); Marlene Graham and children Clint (Jo), Cristall, |
19 | | and Curtis (Kristin); children of Randy (Sandy) Brinkman, Kim |
20 | | Sparks, Craig (Nikki) and Amy; Rodney (Amy Willer) Brinkman |
21 | | and children Anne, Adam and Austin (Krissy); Leann (Jack |
22 | | Moore) Behymer and children Jason Lewton, Anna (James) Lemon, |
23 | | and Brian (Michel) Lewton; Cherlyn (Randy) Davis; Charlene |

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
14 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
15 | | we mourn the passing of Leroy Edward Brinkman and extend our |
16 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
17 | | and loved him; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Leroy Brinkman as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
