2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Julius |
4 | | Eli Golembo, who passed away at his home in Deerfield on July |
5 | | 25, 2021 at
the age of 106; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was born in the Douglas Park |
7 | | neighborhood on Chicago's West Side to Saul and Jennie |
8 | | Golembo, Jewish
emigrants from Lithuania, on March 6, 1915; |
9 | | and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo valued perseverance, commitment, |
11 | | and hard work; as a child of the Great Depression, he survived |
12 | | on limited rations and dreamt of a
stable career and the |
13 | | ability to provide for his family; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo studied and became a pharmacist; |
15 | | he started his career earning $.50 an hour and worked hard to |
16 | | advance,
eventually seizing the opportunity to own his own |
17 | | pharmacies in Chicago and the suburbs; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo worked as a pharmacist for over 70 |
19 | | years and finally retired in
his 90s while working as a |
20 | | pharmacist in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was an honest man of faith and a |
2 | | committed member of his shul, never
missing a service; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, At 106, Julius Golembo still had the wits of a |
4 | | young man with an uncanny ability to recall
minute details, |
5 | | such as moments from seemingly disparate ball games from |
6 | | decades prior; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo left a mark on the hearts of those |
8 | | who knew him with his always upbeat
demeanor and an ability to |
9 | | remain present in all his interactions; he always wanted the |
10 | | best for his loved ones and family; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Julius Golembo was a beloved son, brother, |
12 | | husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, and
so much more; |
13 | | he wanted nothing but the best for his loved ones and family; |
14 | | therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we mourn the passing of Julius Eli Golembo and extend our |
18 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
19 | | and loved him; and be it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Julius Golembo as an expression of |
