2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Grace |
4 | | "Gracie" Marie Wingfield, who passed away on September 2, |
5 | | 2021; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield was born to Joseph Edward Dansby |
7 | | and Annie Marie Dansby in Washington, Pennsylvania on March |
8 | | 21, 1953; her family moved to Chicago in 1965; after the death |
9 | | of her mother, she lived in Washington D.C. with her sister for |
10 | | a time but returned to Chicago to live with her father; she |
11 | | graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1971 and then |
12 | | attended South Suburban Community College; she married her |
13 | | high school sweetheart Clifton Wingfield Sr. on June 24, 1978; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield first worked for Aetna; she then |
16 | | worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Veterans |
17 | | Administration before serving as a federal litigation agent |
18 | | for the United States Attorney's Office with the Department of |
19 | | Justice; she retired in 2010; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield attended Hazel Crest Community |
21 | | United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Usher |
22 | | Board; she had committed to her faith at an early age; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield loved Motown music, especially |
2 | | Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, and organizing family |
3 | | reunions; she was always trying to find the best deals and the |
4 | | best gifts to give; she was a great cook who loved to prepare |
5 | | delicious meals for her family, especially fried green |
6 | | tomatoes; she was interested in politics and was great fun |
7 | | because of her lively personality; most of all, she loved |
8 | | spending time with her family; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield was preceded in death by her |
10 | | parents; her beloved husband; her son, Christopher Wingfield; |
11 | | and her five siblings, William Lee, Milton Lee, Cornell Lee, |
12 | | Clarence Lee, and JoAnn Dansby; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Grace Wingfield is survived by her children, |
14 | | Kendra (Charles), Clifton Jr. (Courtney), Krystal (Stephen), |
15 | | and Kimberly; her four grandchildren, Rashad, Ava, Alanah, and |
16 | | Cali; her three sisters, Armenthia (TJ) Alexander, Willa Mae |
17 | | (Thomas) McMorris, and Jean (Gerald) McCullough; her three |
18 | | brothers, Cecil Lee, Joseph Dansby, and Donald Dansby; her |
19 | | brother-in-law, Arthur (Carlene) Hyrams; her sisters-in-law, |
20 | | Johanna Lee, Darriel Lee, Patricia Lee, and Donna Lee; her |
21 | | host of nieces and nephews; her cousins; and her other |
22 | | relatives and friends; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
2 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
3 | | we mourn the passing of Grace "Gracie" Marie Wingfield and |
4 | | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all |
5 | | who knew and loved her; and be it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Grace Wingfield as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
