2 | | WHEREAS, Hinduism is the third largest religion in the |
3 | | world with more than one billion followers worldwide and six |
4 | | million in the United States; and

5 | | WHEREAS, During the month of October, the culture, |
6 | | history, traditions, achievements, and contributions of Hindus |
7 | | are recognized and celebrated throughout the United States; |
8 | | and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, American Hindus have made numerous positive |
10 | | contributions in all aspects of society, from science to |
11 | | business to politics to spirituality; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Illinois' vibrant American Hindu community has |
13 | | contributed tremendously to the vitality of the State and |
14 | | enriched the lives of its citizens; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Hindus strive to achieve dharma, which is a code |
16 | | of living that emphasizes good conduct and morality; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, The American Hindu community will collectively |
18 | | celebrate its heritage during the month of October by focusing |
19 | | on its culture and the diverse spiritual traditions rooted in |
