HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate KidsMatter on the 
4occasion of the organization's 20th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, KidsMatter was created by Edward Hospital in 
6Naperville in 1998; it was formed as a community-wide 
7prevention health strategy to combat teenage destructive 
8behaviors and focused on the healthy development of all young 
9people; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, KidsMatter selected the Search Institute's 
11research-proven 40 Developmental Asset Framework as the 
12organization's infrastructure to help ensure it possessed the 
13core building blocks of healthy development for youth; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, KidsMatter became an independent not-for-profit 
15in 2001; the organization was recognized as the area's only 
16non-client based, proactive, youth-oriented organization 
17helping kids build developmental assets, including positive 
18values, healthy relationships, and self-esteem; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, KidsMatter serves as the leader of the 
20Collaborative Youth Team, a community bridge connecting 35 
21social service agencies, government-based organizations, and

1school districts together in meaningful collaboration to 
2positively impact the lives of area youth; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, KidsMatter celebrated its 20th Anniversary at its 
4EMPOWER Gala on September 17, 2021; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate KidsMatter on its 20th anniversary, and we 
8wish the organization continued success in the years ahead 
9empowering kids to realize their purpose and to know and 
10understand their value and helping them find their pathway; 
11and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to KidsMatter as an expression of our esteem and 
14respect.
