HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Hinduism is the third largest religion in the 
3world with more than one billion followers worldwide, six 
4million in the United States, and over 250,000 in Illinois; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Illinois is proud of its rich cultural history 
7and the many people who call our state home; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Illinois is home to a vibrant Hindu community; 
9and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Hindu-Americans have made significant 
11contributions across all fields, including science, education, 
12medicine, law, politics, business, culture, sports, and more; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Hindu heritage, culture, traditions, and values 
15have enriched our great state; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, During the month of October 2021, the Hindu 
17community across the State of Illinois and across our nation 
18will collectively celebrate Hindu heritage; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Hindu Heritage Month provides an opportunity to

1focus on Hindu culture and its diverse spiritual traditions 
2rooted in India; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we declare October of 2021 to be Hindu Heritage Month in the 
6State of Illinois.
