| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to commend Wonzolyn F.P. "Pearl" | ||||||
| 4 | Henderson for her 15 years of service to the Hoffman Estates | ||||||
| 5 | Cultural Awareness Commission while serving as chair; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson was born to Reverend Franklin and | ||||||
| 7 | Emma Brandon in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 8, 1957; she | ||||||
| 8 | graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1975; she | ||||||
| 9 | married Lenard Henderson, and they ultimately settled in | ||||||
| 10 | Hoffman Estates; they have one son, Dante Ryan Henderson; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson worked in corporate and social | ||||||
| 12 | service organizations for over 20 years; she started at Desoto | ||||||
| 13 | Inc. before landing a role in training and development at | ||||||
| 14 | Motorola Land Mobile Products Services; she finished in the | ||||||
| 15 | company's corporate human resources staffing; during this | ||||||
| 16 | time, she received her bachelor's degree in Human Resources | ||||||
| 17 | Management from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson left Motorola to pursue her | ||||||
| 19 | master's degree; she earned a master's degree in Human | ||||||
| 20 | Services and Counseling; during which time, she interned and | ||||||
| 21 | later worked as a domestic violence counselor for the Elgin | ||||||
| 22 | Community Crisis Center; she then worked in human resources | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | for Alexian Brothers Mental Health Center; after that, she | ||||||
| 2 | worked as a drug abuse counselor in a methadone clinic; she | ||||||
| 3 | left the workforce due to health concerns and turned her | ||||||
| 4 | energies to volunteer work; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson has served in various volunteer | ||||||
| 6 | capacities; she was a Sunday school teacher and the | ||||||
| 7 | superintendent of her church before and after she left the | ||||||
| 8 | workforce; she has also volunteered as an election judge and | ||||||
| 9 | with Gigi's in Hoffman Estates and the Hanover Park Community | ||||||
| 10 | Center; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Pearl Henderson is currently serving on the | ||||||
| 12 | Recreation Committee of the Hoffman Estates Park District for | ||||||
| 13 | her sixth year; she recently resigned as the chair of the | ||||||
| 14 | Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission after serving | ||||||
| 15 | for 15 years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 17 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we commend Wonzolyn F.P. "Pearl" Henderson for her commitment | ||||||
| 19 | to the Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission and her | ||||||
| 20 | dedication to the Hoffman Estates community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Pearl Henderson as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
