HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th year at the Riverside Golf Club (RGC) and on being inducted into the Western Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame on September 17th, 2021; and

WHEREAS, An Oak Park native, Karl Bollnow began his tenure at RGC in 1971, at the age of 13, after following some friends to the club to look for jobs as caddies; he caddied throughout high school and as he attended DePaul University, including caddying in the Western Open for champion Tom Watson in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow began working in the golf shop at RGC in 1976; he served under the longtime club pro Bill Heald for whom a PGA career achievement award is named; the following year, he became caddiemaster and, one year after that, he became the assistant pro; upon Bill Heald's retirement in 1996, he became the head professional and has served in that position ever since; and

WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow has overseen thousands of young people who have moved through the club as caddies, and over 300 have gone on to full college scholarships through the Evans Scholars program or the club's own Memorial Scholarship program; and

WHEREAS, Other RGC Hall of Fame members include Bill Murray, Peter Ueberroth, Charles Schwab, Jack Nicklaus, Chick Evans, and Tom Watson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th year at the Riverside Golf Club and on being inducted into the Western Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Karl Bollnow as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
