1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Endsley on the |
4 | | occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the |
5 | | Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) in June of 2021; |
6 | | and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley joined the IESA staff in 1988, and |
8 | | he became its Executive Director in 1996; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, During Steve Endsley's tenure as Executive |
10 | | Director, participation and programs have consistently grown; |
11 | | the IESA is currently the eighth largest state athletic and |
12 | | activity association in the nation; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley raised the profile of the IESA by |
14 | | developing an academic recognition program for the best and |
15 | | brightest middle school students in Illinois; the IESA Scholar |
16 | | Attitude Award program was established in 1999 and has now |
17 | | been in place for 22 years; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has represented the IESA at several |
19 | | National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) |
20 | | meetings; the IESA is the only association in the country to be |
21 | | named an affiliate member of the NFHS; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley was recently inducted into the |
2 | | Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of |
3 | | Fame; he is also a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches |
4 | | Association Hall of Fame, becoming one of very few people to be |
5 | | recognized at such a high level by both organizations; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has made education and |
7 | | sportsmanship a priority during his time at the IESA; through |
8 | | his leadership, many programs have been developed to help |
9 | | educate coaches, officials, parents, and participants; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has made numerous presentations to |
11 | | educators in Illinois and across the country highlighting the |
12 | | value of interscholastic sports and activities for middle |
13 | | school students; he has been a relentless advocate for |
14 | | students and their positive development through sports and |
15 | | activity programs; and

16 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley is a 1975 graduate of Limestone |
17 | | High School in Bartonville; he earned his Bachelor of Science |
18 | | from Illinois State University (ISU) in 1979 and his master's |
19 | | degree from ISU in 1988; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Steve Endsley is concluding an outstanding 33 |
21 | | year career that was dedicated to children's development and |

1 | | well-being; therefore, be it

2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
3 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
4 | | we congratulate Steve Endsley on his retirement as Executive |
5 | | Director of the Illinois Elementary School Association, |
6 | | commend him for decades of commitment to our children, and |
7 | | wish him health and happiness as he enters the next chapter of |
8 | | his life; and be it further

9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 | | presented to Steve Endsley and his family on the occasion of |
11 | | his retirement.
