HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Endsley on the 
4occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the 
5Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) in June of 2021; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley joined the IESA staff in 1988, and 
8he became its Executive Director in 1996; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, During Steve Endsley's tenure as Executive 
10Director, participation and programs have consistently grown; 
11the IESA is currently the eighth largest state athletic and 
12activity association in the nation; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley raised the profile of the IESA by 
14developing an academic recognition program for the best and 
15brightest middle school students in Illinois; the IESA Scholar 
16Attitude Award program was established in 1999 and has now 
17been in place for 22 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has represented the IESA at several 
19National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) 
20meetings; the IESA is the only association in the country to be 
21named an affiliate member of the NFHS; and

1    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley was recently inducted into the 
2Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of 
3Fame; he is also a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches 
4Association Hall of Fame, becoming one of very few people to be 
5recognized at such a high level by both organizations; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has made education  and 
7sportsmanship a priority during his time at the IESA; through 
8his leadership, many programs have been developed to help 
9educate coaches, officials, parents, and participants; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley has made numerous presentations to 
11educators in Illinois and across the country highlighting the 
12value of interscholastic sports and activities for middle 
13school students; he has been a relentless advocate for 
14students and their positive development through sports and 
15activity programs; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley is a 1975 graduate of Limestone 
17High School in Bartonville; he earned his Bachelor of Science  
18from Illinois State University (ISU) in 1979 and his master's 
19degree from ISU in 1988; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Steve Endsley is concluding an outstanding 33 
21year career that was dedicated to children's development and

1well-being; therefore, be it
  
 
  
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate Steve Endsley on his retirement as Executive 
5Director of the Illinois Elementary School Association, 
6commend him for decades of commitment to our children, and 
7wish him health and happiness as he enters the next chapter of 
8his life; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Steve Endsley and his family on the occasion of 
11his retirement.
