2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Craig A. Haigh |
4 | | on the occasion of his retirement after 33 years of service; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Haigh began his fire service career in 1983 |
7 | | as a volunteer in his hometown of Hampton and served as |
8 | | Hampton's volunteer fire chief from 1991 to 1995; he was hired |
9 | | full time as a firefighter with the Rock Island Fire |
10 | | Department in 1988; he ultimately was appointed as their first |
11 | | EMS coordinator and developed and implemented the department's |
12 | | paramedic program; he left Hampton and Rock Island in 1995 and |
13 | | moved to North Carolina to become the first paid fire chief of |
14 | | the King Volunteer Fire Department, where he was tasked with |
15 | | transitioning the all-volunteer department into a combination |
16 | | agency (volunteer and paid employees); he returned to Illinois |
17 | | in 2002 to serve as fire chief for Hanover Park; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Chief Haigh, in addition to his duties as Hanover |
19 | | Park's fire chief, has served as the interim village manager |
20 | | and the director of emergency management; he created the |
21 | | Inspectional Services Division, developed, implemented, and |
22 | | managed the village's strategic planning program, and created |
23 | | the Fire Corps Rehab Response Team; and
