2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Richard "Dick" T. Deitz |
4 | | on the occasion of his retirement as mayor of the City of |
5 | | McLeansboro; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz has faithfully served the citizens of |
7 | | McLeansboro for 32 years; he first served as the city alderman |
8 | | of the 3rd ward from 1989 to 1993 and then as mayor from 1993 |
9 | | to 2021; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Prior to public service, Mayor Deitz worked in |
11 | | the composing department of the Mt. Vernon Register News; he |
12 | | started his career with the organization in 1957 and continued |
13 | | his work there until 2004; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz began a community safety committee |
15 | | that would later evolve into the Hamilton County Emergency |
16 | | Planning Committee; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz implemented Zoning for the City of |
18 | | McLeansboro; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz served on the Hamilton County 4-H |
20 | | Foundation; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz continues to serve on the Hamilton |
2 | | County Tree of Lights Committee; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz continues committee work to restart |
4 | | the city sponsored Christmas Parade; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz was responsible for obtaining funding |
6 | | for and oversaw the McCleansboro water tower project from 2018 |
7 | | through 2021; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Deitz was responsible for obtaining a grant |
9 | | to fund the current sewer plant; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, In his spare time, Mayor Deitz enjoys spending |
11 | | time with his wife of more than 60 years, Sue, his son, Darrin, |
12 | | his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Mike Belangee, and his |
13 | | two grandchildren, Carson and Carter Belangee; therefore, be |
14 | | it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we congratulate McLeansboro Mayor Richard "Dick" T. Deitz on |
18 | | his retirement, thank him for his service, and wish him the |
19 | | best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
