| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Paul Buss on his | ||||||
| 4 | retirement after 44 years of service as the Jackson Township | ||||||
| 5 | Highway Commissioner; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Paul Buss is a 56 year resident of Jackson | ||||||
| 7 | Township; he has been married to Annette (Mackey) for 56 | ||||||
| 8 | years; they have four children, Tim, Kim, Bryan, and Jason, | ||||||
| 9 | and 14 grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jackson Township has a population of some 4,100 | ||||||
| 11 | and covers more than 36 square miles; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Paul Buss served as a Jackson Township Trustee | ||||||
| 13 | for four years prior to becoming highway commissioner; he is | ||||||
| 14 | the longest tenured highway commissioner in all of Will | ||||||
| 15 | County; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, When Paul Buss took the office of Jackson | ||||||
| 17 | Township Highway Commissioner, there were just two pieces of | ||||||
| 18 | old equipment for the township; under his leadership, a full | ||||||
| 19 | vehicle inventory has been outfitted to serve the township, | ||||||
| 20 | and a garage was built to house the fleet; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, As commissioner, Paul Buss had all township roads | ||||||
| 2 | paved; he pledged to replace every bridge with a new, | ||||||
| 3 | code-complaint one, and the last bridge is currently being | ||||||
| 4 | replaced; he had street lights installed at all major | ||||||
| 5 | intersections; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Paul Buss mandated that all projects over $20,000 | ||||||
| 7 | be done through a sealed bid to ensure fairness and | ||||||
| 8 | transparency, and he relinquished his pension to save taxpayer | ||||||
| 9 | money; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Paul Buss has been a member of the Plumbers & | ||||||
| 11 | Pipefitters Local #422 for 50 years; he is a past member of the | ||||||
| 12 | Elwood Lions Club; he is a Joliet Catholic Academy alumnus and | ||||||
| 13 | now serves as a member of the school's board of directors; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it

| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate Paul Buss on his retirement after 44 years of | ||||||
| 18 | service as the Jackson Township Highway Commissioner and | ||||||
| 19 | commend him on his unwavering dedication, service, and | ||||||
| 20 | leadership; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Paul Buss as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
