2 | | WHEREAS, All over the world, persons who menstruate face |
3 | | numerous challenges in managing their menstruation, including |
4 | | pads and other supplies being unavailable or unaffordable, a |
5 | | lack of access to safe toilet facilities with clean water |
6 | | where they can clean themselves in privacy, discriminatory |
7 | | cultural norms or practices that make it difficult to maintain |
8 | | good menstrual hygiene, and other struggles; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Poor menstrual hygiene undermines the educational |
10 | | opportunities, health, and overall social status of persons |
11 | | who menstruate; and

12 | | WHEREAS, As a result, millions of persons who menstruate |
13 | | are kept from reaching their full potential; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Menstrual Hygiene Day was initiated by the German |
15 | | non-profit WASH United in 2013; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Menstrual Hygiene Day is a global advocacy |
17 | | platform that brings together the voices and actions of |
18 | | non-profits, government agencies, individuals, the private |
19 | | sector, and the media to promote good menstrual hygiene |
20 | | management for all persons who menstruate; and
