2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend Adam Broad on his four years | ||||||
4 | of distinguished service as a Vernon Township trustee; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Adam Broad helped oversee the expansion of the | ||||||
6 | hours of the Vernon Township Food Pantry and its conversion | ||||||
7 | into a grocery store experience, so the Vernon Township | ||||||
8 | community's seniors, immigrants, and people in need would have | ||||||
9 | access to a reliable, dignified source of healthy food; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Adam Broad championed initiatives that would | ||||||
11 | fight climate change, reduce Vernon Township's dependence on | ||||||
12 | fossil fuels, and promote conservation efforts; projects were | ||||||
13 | completed to weatherize Vernon Township's facilities to reduce | ||||||
14 | energy consumption and save taxpayers money, and Vernon | ||||||
15 | Township established a free community garden to supply fresh | ||||||
16 | produce to the food pantry; and

17 | WHEREAS, Adam Broad supported Vernon Township's efforts to | ||||||
18 | address the COVID-19 crisis; free masks and hand sanitizer | ||||||
19 | were distributed to residents, and a call center was | ||||||
20 | established to help connect local seniors with appointments to | ||||||
21 | receive the COVID-19 vaccine; and

1 | WHEREAS, Adam Broad contributed to these accomplishments | ||||||
2 | that were made without raising the Vernon Township's property | ||||||
3 | tax levy; he was a leader in Vernon Township's efforts to | ||||||
4 | solicit grants to support and expand services, and the Vernon | ||||||
5 | Township Board increased and improved services without | ||||||
6 | increasing taxes by cutting unnecessary expenses, identifying | ||||||
7 | alternative sources of revenue, consolidating Vernon | ||||||
8 | Township's road district to eliminate unnecessary | ||||||
9 | administrative expenses, and maximizing the value of its | ||||||
10 | existing assets; and

11 | WHEREAS, Adam Broad oftentimes served as the Vernon | ||||||
12 | Township Board's "moral compass"; he was passionate about | ||||||
13 | building a local government that is responsive to the needs of | ||||||
14 | the most vulnerable members of our community and used his | ||||||
15 | platform to bring much needed attention to the deficiencies in | ||||||
16 | our country's healthcare system; he advocated to ensure that | ||||||
17 | the township's employees were fairly compensated and were | ||||||
18 | provided a safe workplace free from harassment or | ||||||
19 | discrimination; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
22 | we commend Adam Broad on his years of humble and faithful | ||||||
23 | service to the people of Vernon Township as well as his role as | ||||||
24 | an inspiration for all those who seek fairness and justice for |

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
3 | presented to Adam Broad as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
