2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Michael "Mike" Raczak on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of his retirement as president of the Indian | ||||||
5 | Prairie School District 204 Board of Education; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mike Raczak earned his bachelor's degree in | ||||||
7 | Education and Special Education and his master's degree in | ||||||
8 | Special Education from Northern Illinois University; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mike Raczak is a retired educator with 38 years | ||||||
10 | of experience as a teacher and administrator; he began his | ||||||
11 | career as a teacher and later became the principal of the Ray | ||||||
12 | Graham Habilitation Center; he also worked for the LaGrange | ||||||
13 | Area Department of Special Education, the School Association | ||||||
14 | for Special Education in DuPage County, and Butler School | ||||||
15 | District 53, where he started one of the first inclusion | ||||||
16 | programs in Illinois; he joined Indian Prairie School District | ||||||
17 | 204 in 1991; he served as a middle school assistant principal, | ||||||
18 | a middle school principal, and an elementary school principal; | ||||||
19 | and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, During his career, Mike Raczak led schools that | ||||||
21 | received numerous honors, including the Association of | ||||||
22 | Illinois Middle Schools and the National Forum to Accelerate |

1 | Middle Level's School to Watch, the National Association of | ||||||
2 | Secondary School Principals' 100 Highly Successful Schools, | ||||||
3 | and the Illinois State Board of Education's Exemplary Business | ||||||
4 | Partnerships Award and the Academic Excellence Award for high | ||||||
5 | student achievement for five consecutive years; he has been | ||||||
6 | honored in the community as the recipient of the Indian | ||||||
7 | Prairie District 204 Parent Diversity Advisory Council's | ||||||
8 | Equity Champion Award, the Naperville Jaycees' Outstanding | ||||||
9 | Educator Award, and the Illinois State Board of Education's | ||||||
10 | Those Who Excel Award; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, While on the Indian Prairie School District 204 | ||||||
12 | Board of Education, Mike Raczak served as vice president from | ||||||
13 | 2015 to 2017; he became president in 2017 and has served in | ||||||
14 | that role until his retirement; through continued professional | ||||||
15 | development and training with the Illinois Association of | ||||||
16 | School Boards, he achieved and maintained master board member | ||||||
17 | status; he was also designated a fellow in the association's | ||||||
18 | LeaderShop Academy; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Mike Raczak has also served as the president of | ||||||
20 | the Association of Illinois Middle Schools, the president of | ||||||
21 | the Illinois Association of Persons with Severe Handicaps, and | ||||||
22 | a member on the Illinois State Board of Education Steering | ||||||
23 | Committee on Autism; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
2 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we congratulate Michael "Mike" Raczak on his retirement as | ||||||
4 | president of the Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of | ||||||
5 | Education, and we wish him many happy and healthy retirement | ||||||
6 | years; and be it further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to Mike Raczak as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
9 | respect.
