2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of |
4 | | Evangelist Mary Ellen "EG" Gwin; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin was born to Flim and Amy Moore on April |
6 | | 18, 1951; she grew up in a home built by her father in Robbins; |
7 | | she was educated in Robbins and Blue Island; she earned |
8 | | bachelor's degrees in Music and in Education from Roosevelt |
9 | | University of Chicago; she married Lloyd E. Gwin on May 22, |
10 | | 1974; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin was an adult education teacher in |
12 | | Chicago and Urbana for more than 20 years; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin served as the minister of music, |
14 | | director of ministries, ordained minister, and first lady and |
15 | | co-pastor along with her husband Bishop Gwin at The Church Of |
16 | | The Living God in Champaign for nearly 40 years; she was also |
17 | | the mother of The Church Of The Living God National Assembly |
18 | | Brotherhood; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin was deeply committed to her faith; she |
20 | | loved music, especially Gospel and Christian music, and she |
21 | | loved singing in choirs, directing choirs, playing |
|

1 | | accompaniment on the piano, and composing choral music; |
2 | | recently, she enjoyed listening to choirs; she also enjoyed |
3 | | shopping and dressing, and she was known for being the best |
4 | | dressed person in all situations; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin was a devoted wife as well as a loving |
6 | | mother and grandmother; she had a gift for helping others find |
7 | | their true purposes; she was filled with love and light and |
8 | | influenced many with the power of her faith; she will be |
9 | | missed; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin was preceded in death by her parents, |
11 | | Brother Flim and Sister Amy Moore, and her brother, Flim |
12 | | Wesley Moore; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gwin is survived her husband of 46 years, |
14 | | Senior Bishop Lloyd E. "BG" Gwin (BG); her children, Bettye |
15 | | Tanya Jordan (Earl), Pancho Moore-Lloyd II, and Christina Poe |
16 | | (Darrell); her sisters, Grace Jackson, Lori Colquitt (Pastor |
17 | | Lewis), and Leah Taylor (late husband, Todd); her brother, |
18 | | Steven Moore; her grandchildren, RaShaunda, Keisha, K'Shawna, |
19 | | Aija, Ariauna, Christiana, Christyn, and Christian; her |
20 | | nieces, Candace Gwin, Zipporah Gwin, Victoria Taylor, Amie |
21 | | Lewis, and Alisa Jefferson (Raymond); her nephews, Clarence |
22 | | (Josh) Taylor, Leonard Morris, and Duane Lewis (Laurentia); |
23 | | her great-niece, A'Leah Gwin; her friend and caregiver, Angela |

4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
5 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
6 | | we mourn the passing of Evangelist Mary Ellen "EG" Gwin and |
7 | | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all |
8 | | who knew and loved her; and be it further

9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 | | presented to the family of Mary Gwin as an expression of our |
11 | | deepest sympathy.
