2 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kessler has dedicated her more than 35 |
3 | | year career to promoting and preserving parks and recreation |
4 | | on the regional, state, and national levels; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kessler currently serves the community |
6 | | as the executive director of the McHenry County Conservation |
7 | | District; while serving McHenry County, she has overseen many |
8 | | successful endeavors, including a successful $73 million |
9 | | voter-approved referendum, the protection of 5,600 acres of |
10 | | land, the opening of 14 sites with public access and outdoor |
11 | | amenities, the addition of 12 miles of regional trails, the |
12 | | welcoming of over 1 million annual site visitors, and the |
13 | | opening of the Lost Valley Visitor Center, which is the |
14 | | county's first gold-level LEED-certified public building; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Continuing her commitment to McHenry County, |
16 | | Elizabeth Kessler serves as an advisor to the McHenry County |
17 | | Conservation Foundation, sits on the board of Visit McHenry |
18 | | County, and serves as chair of Chicago Wilderness; she is a |
19 | | past member of the board of directors of the Park and |
20 | | Recreation Administration, past president of the National |
21 | | Recreation and Park Association, and past chair of the |
22 | | Illinois Park and Recreation Association; she served as the |
23 | | 2020 chair of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association |
