|
2 | | WHEREAS, This year will mark the 33rd anniversary of the |
3 | | establishment and recognition of National Black Nurses Day by |
4 | | the 101st United States Congress; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Blacks have long been active in the nursing |
6 | | field; currently, they comprise five percent of the total |
7 | | nursing population and practice in a variety of areas, |
8 | | including clinical, education, administrative, research, |
9 | | government, and private enterprise; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Black nurses have made significant contributions |
11 | | to the nursing profession; as attention to the health care |
12 | | problems of minorities and the poor increases, black nurses |
13 | | can be credited for establishing an environment of quality, |
14 | | service, and skill that patients have come to expect from |
15 | | health care practitioners; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Since February honors the contributions made to |
17 | | this country by Black Americans, it is fitting that Black |
18 | | nurses be recognized and honored for their outstanding |
19 | | contributions to our communities and our country; therefore, |
20 | | be it
