Amends the Administration Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that all foster families shall automatically qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits regardless of income, subject to federal approval if required. Requires the Department of Human Services to apply for any federal waivers or approvals necessary to implement the amendatory Act. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 12-4.13e as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.13e new) |
7 | | Sec. 12-4.13e. Foster care families; SNAP eligibility. |
8 | | Subject to federal approval if required, all foster families |
9 | | shall automatically qualify for Supplemental Nutrition |
10 | | Assistance Program benefits regardless of income. The |
11 | | Department of Human Services shall apply for any federal |
12 | | waivers or approvals necessary to implement this Section.

13 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
14 | | becoming law.
