Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that no county employee or county official shall publicly disclose on an Internet website information concerning whether particular property has been granted a homestead exemption based on an individual's status as a person with a disability if the county receives a written request from the person with a disability or from that person's authorized agent or representative to refrain from disclosing that information. Provides that the information shall be removed from the Internet website within 5 business days after the request. Provides for an action in the circuit court seeking injunctive or declaratory relief to enforce the provisions of the amendatory Act.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 15-190 as follows: |

7 | | Sec. 15-190. Limitations on posting disability status. |
8 | | (a) No county employee or county official shall publicly |
9 | | disclose on an Internet website information concerning whether |
10 | | particular property has been granted a homestead exemption |
11 | | under this Code based on an individual's status as a person |
12 | | with a disability if the county receives a written request to |
13 | | refrain from disclosing that information from the person with |
14 | | a disability or from that person's authorized agent or |
15 | | representative. Any publicly available information the |
16 | | disclosure of which is prohibited by this Section shall be |
17 | | removed from the Internet website within 5 business days after |
18 | | the county receives a written request under this Section. |
19 | | After the information has been removed, no county employee or |
20 | | county official shall publicly post or display the information |
21 | | described in this Section unless the county receives written |
22 | | authorization from the individual with a disability to make |
23 | | that information available to the public. |
