Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. In a provision exempting ground ambulance services from the managed care medical assistance program, requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to arrange the scheduling of ground ambulance services whenever managed care enrollees require transportation assistance. Provides that such services shall be paid (rather than continue to be paid) under the State's traditional fee-for-service program. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 5-30b as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/5-30b) |
7 | | Sec. 5-30b. Exemptions from managed care; ground ambulance |
8 | | services. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, |
9 | | beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the |
10 | | 102nd General Assembly, the Department shall exempt ground |
11 | | ambulance services as described in subsections (c-1) and (c-2) |
12 | | of Section 5-4.2. The Department shall arrange the scheduling
|
13 | | of ground ambulance services as described in subsections (c-1) |
14 | | and (c-2) of
Section 5-4.2 whenever managed care enrollees |
15 | | require
transportation assistance. These services shall |
16 | | continue to be paid under the State's traditional |
17 | | fee-for-service program.
