Amends the Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971. Provides that the Department of Transportation shall not unreasonably deny a vegetation control permit that seeks to increase the visibility zone from 250 feet to 500 feet. Provides that the extra distance shall be measured diagonally from the edge of the right-of-way to the edge of the pavement, and the visibility zone will be the triangular section it creates. Provides that the measuring of the vegetation control permit only applies to municipal network signs.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971 is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 6.05 as follows: |
6 | | (225 ILCS 440/6.05 new) |
7 | | Sec. 6.05. Vegetation control permit. The Department shall |
8 | | not unreasonably deny a vegetation control permit that seeks |
9 | | to increase the visibility zone from 250 feet to 500 feet. The |
10 | | extra distance shall be measured diagonally from the edge of |
11 | | the right-of-way to the edge of the pavement, and the |
12 | | visibility zone will be the triangular section it creates. |
13 | | This change only applies to municipal network signs.
