Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that a group or individual policy of accident and health insurance or managed care plan amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2024 shall provide coverage for a colonoscopy determined to be medically necessary for persons aged 39 years old to 75 years old.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
5 | | renumbering and changing Section 356z.43, as added by Public |
6 | | Act 102-443, as follows:

8 | | Sec. 356z.48 356z.43 . Colonoscopy coverage. |
9 | | (a) A group policy of accident and health insurance that |
10 | | is amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January |
11 | | 1, 2022 shall provide coverage for a colonoscopy that is a |
12 | | follow-up exam based on an initial screen where the |
13 | | colonoscopy was determined to be medically necessary by a |
14 | | physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches, |
15 | | an advanced practice registered nurse, or a physician |
16 | | assistant. |
17 | | (b) A group or individual policy of accident and health |
18 | | insurance or managed care plan amended, delivered, issued, or |
19 | | renewed on or after January 1, 2024 shall provide coverage for |
20 | | a colonoscopy determined to be medically necessary for persons |
21 | | aged 39 years old to 75 years old. |
22 | | (c) (b) A policy subject to this Section shall not impose a |
23 | | deductible, coinsurance, copayment, or any other cost-sharing |
