Amends the Election Code. Provides that an election authority does not need to notify a voter by mail before a general election (currently, general or consolidated election) if the voter applied for permanent vote by mail status or the voter submitted a written request to be excluded from the permanent vote by mail status.

1 | | AN ACT concerning elections.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 19-2.5 as follows: |
6 | | (10 ILCS 5/19-2.5) |
7 | | Sec. 19-2.5. Notice for vote by mail ballot. An election |
8 | | authority shall notify all qualified voters, except voters who |
9 | | have applied for permanent vote by mail status under |
10 | | subsection (b) of Section 19-3 or voters who submit by written |
11 | | request to be excluded from the permanent vote by mail status, |
12 | | not more than 90 days nor less than 45 days before a general or |
13 | | consolidated election , of the option for permanent vote by |
14 | | mail status using the following notice and including the |
15 | | application for permanent vote by mail status in subsection |
16 | | (b) of Section 19-3: |
17 | | "You may apply to permanently be placed on vote by mail |
18 | | status using the attached application.".
