Amends the Disaster Relief Act. Provides that the term "disaster", for purposes of the Act, shall have the same meaning as provided in the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act. Makes conforming changes.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Disaster Relief Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 1 as follows:
|
6 | | (15 ILCS 30/1) (from Ch. 127, par. 293.1)
|
7 | | Sec. 1. As used in this Act:
|
8 | | "Disaster" shall have the same meaning as provided in |
9 | | Section 4 of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act |
10 | | means an occurrence or threat of widespread or severe
damage, |
11 | | injury or loss of life or property resulting from any natural |
12 | | or
technological cause, including but not limited to fire, |
13 | | flood, earthquake,
wind, storm, hazardous material spill or |
14 | | other water contamination
requiring emergency action to avert |
15 | | danger or damage, epidemic, air
contamination, blight, |
16 | | extended periods of severe and inclement weather,
drought, |
17 | | infestation, critical shortages of essential fuels and energy,
|
18 | | explosion, riot, hostile military or paramilitary action, |
19 | | public
health emergencies, or acts of domestic terrorism .
|
20 | | "Disaster area" means the area directly affected by or |
21 | | threatened with a
disaster.
