    Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Makes a change in a Section concerning the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

1    AN ACT concerning the State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act
5is amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 3930/4)  (from Ch. 38, par. 210-4)
7    Sec. 4. Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority;
8creation, membership, and meetings. There is created an
9Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority consisting of
1025 members. The The membership of the Authority shall consist
11of the Illinois Attorney General, or his or her designee, the
12Director of Corrections, the Director of the Illinois State
13Police, the Director of Public Health, the Director of
14Children and Family Services, the Sheriff of Cook County, the
15State's Attorney of Cook County, the clerk of the circuit
16court of Cook County, the President of the Cook County Board of
17Commissioners, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
18Department, the Director of the Office of the State's
19Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, the Executive Director of the
20Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, the State
21Appellate Defender, the Public Defender of Cook County, and
22the following additional members, each of whom shall be
23appointed by the Governor: a circuit court clerk, a sheriff, a

1State's Attorney of a county other than Cook, a Public
2Defender of a county other than Cook, a chief of police, and 6
3members of the general public.
4    Members appointed on and after the effective date of this
5amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly shall be confirmed
6by the Senate.
7    The Governor from time to time shall designate a Chairman
8of the Authority from the membership. All members of the
9Authority appointed by the Governor shall serve at the
10pleasure of the Governor for a term not to exceed 4 years. The
11initial appointed members of the Authority shall serve from
12January, 1983 until the third Monday in January, 1987 or until
13their successors are appointed.
14    The Authority shall meet at least quarterly, and all
15meetings of the Authority shall be called by the Chairman.
