Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Provides that a resident who is an end-of-life hospice patient, and who does not receive palliative care, has the right to a private room in the resident's facility, regardless of the resident's method of payment for residency at the facility. Provides that the resident's facility shall ensure that the resident's family members have full access to visit the resident at the facility.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 2-116 as follows: |
6 | | (210 ILCS 45/2-116 new) |
7 | | Sec. 2-116. Hospice individuals; private rooms; family |
8 | | member access. A resident who is an end-of-life hospice |
9 | | patient, and who does not receive palliative care, has the |
10 | | right to a private room in the resident's facility, regardless |
11 | | of the resident's method of payment for residency at the |
12 | | facility, including, but not limited to, payment through |
13 | | private funding, Medicare, or Medicaid. The resident's |
14 | | facility shall ensure that the resident's family members have |
15 | | full access to visit the resident at the facility.
