1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4228

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4228 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
5 | 3-6007.5 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (55 ILCS 5/3-6007.5 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 3-6007.5. Sheriff's salary. | ||||||
8 | (a) As used in this Section, "salary" is exclusive of any | ||||||
9 | other compensation or benefits. | ||||||
10 | (b) The salary of a sheriff elected or appointed after the | ||||||
11 | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd General | ||||||
12 | Assembly in a non-home rule county shall not be less than 80% | ||||||
13 | of the salary set for the State's Attorney under Section | ||||||
14 | 4-2001 for the county in which the sheriff is elected or | ||||||
15 | appointed. | ||||||
16 | (c) The State shall furnish 66 2/3% of the total annual |

1 | salary to be paid to a sheriff. Said amounts furnished by the | ||||||
2 | State shall be payable monthly by the Department of Revenue | ||||||
3 | out of the General Revenue Fund to the county in which the | ||||||
4 | sheriff is elected or appointed. The county shall furnish 33 | ||||||
5 | 1/3% of the total annual salary.

6 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, | ||||||
7 | 2022.".
