Creates the Mandatory Dementia-Specific Training Act. Provides that emergency medical technicians, probate judges, paid conservators, and protective services employees shall receive dementia-specific training, including, but not limited to, training in Alzheimer's disease and dementia symptoms and care. Provides that the personnel must receive a refresher training course at least once every 3 years. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall implement and conduct the training program, set standards and determine the hours and frequency of necessary training, and adopt any rules necessary to implement the Act.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Mandatory Dementia-Specific Training Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Dementia-specific training. |
7 | | (a) The following personnel shall receive |
8 | | dementia-specific training, including, but not limited to, |
9 | | training in Alzheimer's disease and dementia symptoms and |
10 | | care: |
11 | | (1) emergency medical technicians; |
12 | | (2) probate judges; |
13 | | (3) paid guardians of persons with disabilities; and |
14 | | (4) protective service employees. |
15 | | (b) The personnel required to receive the training under |
16 | | subsection (a) must receive a refresher training course at |
17 | | least once every 3 years. |
18 | | (c) The Department of Public Health shall implement and |
19 | | conduct the training program, shall set standards, and shall |
20 | | determine the hours and frequency of training necessary for |
21 | | persons required to receive training under this Act. |
22 | | (d) The Department of Public Health shall adopt any rules |
23 | | necessary to implement this Act.
