SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 152/25

    Amends the Illinois Articulation Initiative Act. Requires the Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board to provide increased access to higher education for students with intellectual disabilities by incorporating vocational training, continuing education certificates, individualized learning paths, life skills, and significantly modified curricula into the Illinois Articulation Initiative. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Articulation Initiative Act is
5amended by changing Section 25 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 152/25)
7    Sec. 25. Board of Higher Education and the Illinois
8Community College Board duties.
9    (a) The Board of Higher Education and the Illinois
10Community College Board shall co-manage the implementation,
11oversight, and evaluation of the Illinois Articulation
12Initiative, including determining when panels must be
13discontinued or convened and the specific requirements of the
14General Education Core Curriculum. Panels must be convened
15across the fields of General Education, Communications,
16Humanities and Fine Arts, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences,
17Social and Behavioral Sciences, Mathematics, and other fields
18as determined by the Board of Higher Education and the
19Illinois Community College Board.
20    (b) The Board of Higher Education and the Illinois
21Community College Board shall provide a joint report on an
22annual basis to the General Assembly, the Governor, and the
23Illinois P-20 Council on the status of the Illinois
