Amends the Illinois Articulation Initiative Act. Requires the Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board to provide increased access to higher education for students with intellectual disabilities by incorporating vocational training, continuing education certificates, individualized learning paths, life skills, and significantly modified curricula into the Illinois Articulation Initiative. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Articulation Initiative Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 25 as follows: |
6 | | (110 ILCS 152/25)

7 | | Sec. 25. Board of Higher Education and the Illinois |
8 | | Community College Board duties.
|
9 | | (a) The Board of Higher Education and the Illinois |
10 | | Community College Board shall co-manage the implementation, |
11 | | oversight, and evaluation of the Illinois Articulation |
12 | | Initiative, including determining when panels must be |
13 | | discontinued or convened and the specific requirements of the |
14 | | General Education Core Curriculum. Panels must be convened |
15 | | across the fields of General Education, Communications, |
16 | | Humanities and Fine Arts, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, |
17 | | Social and Behavioral Sciences, Mathematics, and other fields |
18 | | as determined by the Board of Higher Education and the |
19 | | Illinois Community College Board. |
20 | | (b) The Board of Higher Education and the Illinois |
21 | | Community College Board shall provide a joint report on an |
22 | | annual basis to the General Assembly, the Governor, and the |
23 | | Illinois P-20 Council on the status of the Illinois |
