Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Requires that any spot lamp on a motor vehicle shall emit a white light without glare. Requires that any auxiliary driving lamp on a motor vehicle shall emit a white or amber light without glare.

|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 12-207 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/12-207) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-207)
|
7 | | Sec. 12-207. Spot lamps and auxiliary driving lamps.
|
8 | | (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed |
9 | | one spot lamp that shall emit a white light without glare
and |
10 | | every lighted spot lamp shall be so aimed and used upon |
11 | | approaching
another vehicle that no part of the high-intensity |
12 | | portion of the beam will
be directed to the left of the |
13 | | prolongation of the extreme left side of the
vehicle nor more |
14 | | than 100 feet ahead of the vehicle.

15 | | (b) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed |
16 | | three auxiliary
driving lamps that shall emit a white or amber |
17 | | light without glare mounted on the front at a height not less |
18 | | than 12 inches nor
more than 42 inches above the level surface |
19 | | upon which the vehicle stands.

20 | | (c) The restrictions of subsections 12-207 (a) and 12-207 |
21 | | (b) of this
Act shall not apply to authorized emergency |
22 | | vehicles or equipment used
for snow and ice removal operations |
23 | | if owned or operated by or for any
governmental body.
