Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a business that sells or shares a consumer's contact information to or with another must send written notice through the U.S. mail to the consumer whose information is being sold or shared and give the consumer the opportunity to opt out of the sale or sharing of the information after receiving the notice. Provides that a business that fails to comply with those requirements commits an unlawful practice within the meaning of the Act.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
5 | | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2WWW as follows: |
6 | | (815 ILCS 505/2WWW new) |
7 | | Sec. 2WWW. Notice of sale of consumer contact information. |
8 | | A business that sells or shares a consumer's contact |
9 | | information to or with another must: (i) send written notice |
10 | | through the United States mail to the consumer whose |
11 | | information is being sold or shared; and (ii) give the |
12 | | consumer the opportunity to opt out of the sale or sharing of |
13 | | the information after receiving the notice. A business that |
14 | | fails to comply with this Section commits an unlawful practice |
15 | | within the meaning of this Act.
