Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that an individual or group policy of accident and
health insurance or a managed care plan amended, delivered, issued, or renewed in the State on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act shall not require prior authorization for prescription drugs used in the treatment of COVID-19 that have received an emergency authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 356z.43 as follows: |
6 | | (215 ILCS 5/356z.43 new) |
7 | | Sec. 356z.43. COVID-19 prescription drugs; prior |
8 | | authorization. An individual or group policy of accident and

9 | | health insurance or a managed care plan amended, delivered, |
10 | | issued, or renewed in this State on or after the effective date |
11 | | of this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly shall not |
12 | | require prior authorization for prescription drugs used in the |
13 | | treatment of COVID-19 that have received an emergency |
14 | | authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 | | becoming law.
