SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 705/3  from Ch. 85, par. 503

    Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that appointments to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, other than the ex officio members, shall be made by the Executive Director of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from a list of nominees selected by a majority of votes of the President of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the President of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the President of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7 (rather than the Governor).

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 18 members selected
9as follows: The Attorney General of the State of Illinois, the
10Director of State Police, the Director of Corrections, the
11Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff
12of Cook County, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County,
13and the following to be appointed by the Executive Director of
14the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from a
15list of nominees selected by a majority of votes of the
16President of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the President
17of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the President
18of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and
19the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge
207 the Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of Illinois
21municipalities, 2 Illinois county sheriffs from counties other
22than Cook County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 2
23chiefs of municipal police departments in Illinois having no

1Superintendent of the Police Department on the Board, 2
2citizens of Illinois who shall be members of an organized
3enforcement officers' association, one active member of a
4statewide association representing sheriffs, and one active
5member of a statewide association representing municipal
6police chiefs. The appointments of the respective associations
7Governor shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965
8with 3 of the appointments to be for a period of one year, 3
9for 2 years, and 3 for 3 years. Their successors shall be
10appointed in like manner for terms to expire the first Monday
11of August each 3 years thereafter. All members shall serve
12until their respective successors are appointed and qualify.
13Vacancies shall be filled by a majority vote of the respective
14associations the Governor for the unexpired terms.
