Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires a hospital organized or licensed under those Acts to provide a patient who is treated for opioid overdose at the hospital with one dose of or one prescription for an opioid antagonist upon discharge from the hospital, free of charge.

1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 8d as follows: |
6 | | (110 ILCS 330/8d new) |
7 | | Sec. 8d. Opioid antagonist dose. The University of |
8 | | Illinois Hospital shall provide a patient who is treated for |
9 | | opioid overdose at the University of Illinois Hospital with |
10 | | one dose of or one prescription for an opioid antagonist upon |
11 | | discharge from the University of Illinois Hospital, free of |
12 | | charge. |
13 | | Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by |
14 | | adding Section 6.14h as follows: |
15 | | (210 ILCS 85/6.14h new) |
16 | | Sec. 6.14h. Opioid antagonist dose. A hospital licensed |
17 | | under this Act shall provide a patient who is treated for |
18 | | opioid overdose at the hospital with one dose of or one |
19 | | prescription for an opioid antagonist upon discharge from the |
20 | | hospital, free of charge.
