Amends the Landlord and Tenant Act. Provides that the total amount of a security deposit and nonrefundable move-in fees, except for any additional fee for pets, may not exceed the amount of the first full month's rent for the tenant's dwelling unit.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Landlord and Tenant Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 20 as follows: |
6 | | (765 ILCS 705/20 new) |
7 | | Sec. 20. Security deposit limitation. The total amount of |
8 | | a security deposit and nonrefundable move-in fees, except for |
9 | | any additional fee for pets, may not exceed the amount of the |
10 | | first full month's rent for the tenant's dwelling unit.
