Creates the Technology Addiction Notice Act. Provides that an operator of a social media website must include on its social media website a hyperlink that directs users to resources related to technology addiction. The hyperlink must be visible on each page in the social media website.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Technology Addiction Notice Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. In this Act: |
7 | | "Operator" means a private entity that owns a social media |
8 | | website that provides a service to a consumer residing in this |
9 | | State. "Operator" does not include a third party that |
10 | | operates, hosts, or manages, but does not own, a website or |
11 | | online service on the owner's behalf or that processes |
12 | | information on behalf of the owner. |
13 | | "Social media website" means an electronic medium by means |
14 | | of which users may create and view user-generated content, |
15 | | such as uploaded or downloaded videos or still photographs, |
16 | | blogs, video blogs, podcasts, or instant messages. "Social |
17 | | Media website" does not include any medium that has fewer than |
18 | | 10,000 daily users residing in this State.
