Amends the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act. Provides that the Legislative Inspector General may investigate any allegation or complaint under his or her jurisdiction (currently, allegations or complaints of sexual harassment) without the approval of the Legislative Ethics Commission. Makes conforming changes.

1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The State Officials and Employees Ethics Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 25-105 as follows: |
6 | | (5 ILCS 430/25-105) |
7 | | Sec. 25-105. Opening investigations Investigation of |
8 | | sexual harassment . Notwithstanding any provision of law to the |
9 | | contrary, the Legislative Inspector General may investigate |
10 | | any allegation or complaint under his or her jurisdiction of |
11 | | sexual harassment without the approval of the Legislative |
12 | | Ethics Commission. At each Legislative Ethics Commission |
13 | | meeting, the Legislative Inspector General shall inform the |
14 | | Commission of each investigation opened under this Section |
15 | | since the last meeting of the Commission.
