|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 5-15003 as follows:
|
6 | | (55 ILCS 5/5-15003) (from Ch. 34, par. 5-15003)
|
7 | | Sec. 5-15003. Department of public works. The county board |
8 | | may establish a department of public works with
authority to |
9 | | exercise complete supervision in such county over any of the
|
10 | | projects authorized by this Division in either of the methods
|
11 | | designated hereafter.
|
12 | | A. The county board may employ a superintendent of public |
13 | | works and such
other employees for the administration of the |
14 | | department as may be
necessary. The superintendent shall be a |
15 | | registered professional engineer
and shall have complete |
16 | | authority to supervise and manage the department; or
|
17 | | B. Each county public works department shall be managed by |
18 | | a board of
public works, consisting of 5 members appointed by |
19 | | the President and
Chairman of the county board, with the |
20 | | approval of the county board, for a
3 year term, except that of |
21 | | the first appointees, 2 shall serve for one
year, 2 for 2 |
22 | | years, and one for 3 years. The term of office of original

23 | | appointees shall be regarded as beginning on July 1, following |
