AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3283

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3283 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Practice
5Act of 2004 is amended by changing Section 17 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 115/17)  (from Ch. 111, par. 7017)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2024)
8    Sec. 17. Dispensing drugs and medicine.
9    (a) Any person licensed under this Act who dispenses any
10drug or medicine shall dispense such drug or medicine in good
11faith and shall affix to the container containing the same a
12label indicating: (1) (a) the date on which such drug or
13medicine is dispensed, (2) (b) the name of the owner, (3) (c)
14the last name of the person dispensing such drug or medicine,
15(4) (d) directions for use thereof, including dosage and
16quantity, and (5) (e) the proprietary or generic name of the

1drug or medicine, except as otherwise authorized by rules of
2the Department. This subsection Section shall not apply to
3drugs and medicines that are in a container which bears a label
4of the manufacturer with information describing its contents
5that are in compliance with requirements of the Federal Food,
6Drug, and Cosmetic Act or the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic
7Act, approved June 29, 1967, as amended, and that which are
8dispensed without consideration by a practitioner licensed
9under this Act.
10    (b) Each time a person licensed under this Act initially
11dispenses a drug or medicine, he or she shall offer to provide
12the manufacturer's information sheets on the drug or medicine,
13if available.
14    (c) In this Section:
15    "Drug" and "medicine" have the meanings ascribed to them
16in the Pharmacy Practice Act. , as amended, and
17    "Good "good faith" has the meaning ascribed to it in
18subsection (v) of Section 102 of the "Illinois Controlled
19Substances Act", approved August 16, 1971, as amended.
