Amends the Nursing Home Care Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Upon request, requires long-term care facilities and hospitals to facilitate at least one phone call or video call between a resident or patient and a family member of the resident or patient each day during a pandemic or other public health emergency. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 2-108.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (210 ILCS 45/2-108.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2-108.5. Resident phone call or video call during |
| 8 | | pandemics or other public health emergencies. Upon request, a |
| 9 | | facility shall facilitate at least one phone call or video |
| 10 | | call between a resident and a family member of the resident |
| 11 | | each day during a pandemic or other public health emergency.

| 12 | | Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by |
| 13 | | adding Section 6.28 as follows:

| 15 | | Sec. 6.28. Patient phone call or video call during |
| 16 | | pandemics or other public health emergencies. Upon request, a |
| 17 | | hospital licensed under this Act shall facilitate at least one |
| 18 | | phone call or video call between a patient and a family member |
| 19 | | of the patient each day during a pandemic or other public |
| 20 | | health emergency.
