| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Department of Veterans' Affairs Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 3.01 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 3.01. Analysis of field services. Subject to |
| 8 | | sufficient appropriations for this purpose, the Department |
| 9 | | shall contract for a market research analysis of field |
| 10 | | services in this State. The analysis shall include the |
| 11 | | availability of veterans assistance commissions, veterans |
| 12 | | service organizations, and Department staff to assist veterans |
| 13 | | as well as the availability of nontraditional methods to |
| 14 | | deliver services through technology-based approaches. The |
| 15 | | analysis may use census data, as well as questionnaires, |
| 16 | | surveys, and town hall meetings to solicit input from |
| 17 | | veterans, their families, and other stakeholders. Within 18 |
| 18 | | months after sufficient appropriations, the Department shall |
| 19 | | submit to the Governor and the General Assembly a recommended |
| 20 | | plan for the future delivery of services by the Department's |
| 21 | | Field Division. The report shall include the estimated cost of |
| 22 | | implementing the plan. |
| 23 | | This Section is repealed on December 31, 2023.
