Creates the Local Volunteer Board Member Removal Act. Provides that the person or entity that appointed a member of a volunteer board or commission may remove that member for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of office. Provides that removal under the Act is in addition to any other method of removal provided by law. Defines terms. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Local |
5 | | Volunteer Board Member Removal Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
7 | | "Board" means a volunteer board or commission of a |
8 | | governing or administrative body of a unit of local |
9 | | government.

10 | | "Member" means an appointed member of a board serving |
11 | | without compensation, other than reimbursement for actual |
12 | | expenses.

13 | | Section 10. Removal of volunteer board members.
|
14 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the person |
15 | | or entity that appointed a member of a board may remove that |
16 | | member for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of |
17 | | office.
|
18 | | (b) Removal under this Section is in addition to any other |
19 | | method of removal provided by law.
|
20 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
21 | | becoming law.
