Creates the Armed Security Protection Act. Provides that for a period of 3 years beginning July 1, 2022, banks, pawn shops, grocery stores, and gas stations in municipalities having a population in excess of 2,000,000 inhabitants must employ and have on the premises at least one guard during the hours they conduct business with the public.

1 | | AN ACT concerning business.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Armed |
5 | | Security Protection Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. In this Act: |
7 | | "Armed private security guard" or "guard" has the meaning |
8 | | ascribed to the term "armed employee" under the Private |
9 | | Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint |
10 | | Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004. |
11 | | "Bank" has the meaning ascribed to that term in the |
12 | | Illinois Banking Act. |
13 | | "Gas station" means a business subject to the Motor Fuel |
14 | | Sales Act. |
15 | | "Grocery store" means a business engaged in the sale of |
16 | | food, beverages and other goods usually used in a home. |
17 | | "Pawn shop" means a business subject to the Pawnbroker |
18 | | Regulation Act.

19 | | Section 10. Guards required in municipalities having in |
20 | | excess of 2,000,000 inhabitants. A bank, gas station, grocery |
21 | | store, and pawn shop shall employ and have on its premises at |
